Unicorn XML Scripting Engine

Unicorn XML Scripting Engine is a tool designed for the rapid development of XML-based applications. Technically, Unicorn XML scripting engine is an ECMAScript interpreter, which supports a rich set of built-in extension objects. These objects implement various XML-related technologies:

• non-validating XML parser
• XML writer supporting XML, HTML and text output methods
• SAX2 (Simple API for XML version 2.0) interface
• DOM (Document Object Model) Level 1
• XPath expressions and node-sets
• XSLT processor and XSLT pattern matching facility

In addition, the following general-purpose features are supported:

• regular expressions
• I/O operations for text files
• interface for COM automation objects

The XSLT processor, which forms an integral part of the product, supports various XSLT extensions:

• Object-based extensions
• Database access extensions
• Report generation extensions
• Text input extensions

The following editions of Unicorn XML Scripting Engine are available:

• Unicorn XML Shell
• Unicorn XML Gateway
• Unicorn XML Broker

The Unicorn XML Shell is a stand-alone version of the Unicorn XML Scripting Engine, which can be started from a command line.

The Unicorn XML Gateway provides the CGI interface. It can be used for embedding functionality of the Unicorn XML Engine into Web servers.

The Unicorn XML Broker is a COM automation component. It can be used for embedding functionality of the Unicorn XML Engine into applications.

The Unicorn XML Scripting Engine is implemented in C++ and is currently running on Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0.
